Music

[edit]

I want to create a page for Denver-based Chilean-American Folk Band Kiltro. They're currently on tour in the USA. Suggesting creating a red link in the "Music" section. If this is the wrong location for it, I will move it somewhere else, perhaps the "Music of Chile" article, or the "Denver, CO" article. Advice appreciated and requested.

Chile's economic status

[edit]

Chile is a OECD member with a high-income economy, which ranks very high in HDI terms, quality of life and several other macro-macroeconomic facts. Furthermore, Chile's HDI it is ahead of economies such as Brunei, Bahrain, Croatia and Oman, plus nearby advanced economies such as Latvia or Portugal which are only two or three steps ahead. It is not correct to add "relatively" high quality of life according to this aforementioned information.

It seems that the addition of "developing country" at the beginning of the article undermine Chile's macro-economical potential, which might be labelled as "unconstructive" and only added based on biased and non-constructive contributions.

Rapa Nui

[edit]

A special territory of Chile that was annexed in 1888, Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai (play /ˈmoʊ.aɪ/), created by the early Rapanui people. It is a World Heritage Site (as determined by UNESCO) with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park. In recent times the island has served as a cautionary tale about the cultural and environmental dangers of overexploitation. Ethnographers and archaeologists also blame diseases carried by European colonizers and slave raiding[4] of the 1860s for devastating the local peoples.

Easter Island is claimed to be "the most remote inhabited island in the world"

Easter Island shares with Juan Fernández Islands the sui generis constitutional status of "special territory" of Chile, granted in 2007. As of that time a special charter for the island was under discussion: therefore it continued to be considered a province of the Valparaíso Region and containing a single commune (comuna). This is unique in Chile, since all other provinces consist of more than one commune. Both the province and the commune are called Isla de Pascua and encompass the whole island and its surrounding islets and rocks, plus Isla Salas y Gómez, some 380 km (236 mi) to the east.

Note - The Chile Article does not have any live links to the Easter Island article. If a section to Chile is not added for Easter Island then at least the references should be made as active links to the Wiki article.

Edit Request: Update on Free Trade Agreements

[edit]

I am preparing a case study on Chile and the Free Trade Agreements of Chile look like out-dated.

For example, in 2011, there is a new Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Chile which was signed on 14 July 2009 in Santiago and entered into force on 1 March 2011.

Edit: National symbols

[edit]

When talking about the Chilean Flag it says "However, like the Texan flag, the flag of Chile is modeled after the Flag of the United States.[82]" and gives this link as source: https://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/flags/countrys/samerica/chile.htm

I believe that to be untrue, it should read: According to the poem ‘La Araucana’ by Alonso de Ercilla, who was both a soldier and a poet, the current flag resembles the Mapuche Indians’ flag, which was completely blue with a white star in the centre. This flag was waved during the Arauco War, an armed conflict between the Mapuches and the Spaniards that lasted for centuries. Also in chilean sources, there is no mention to the United States Flag.

Subheading Agriculture - line - "Chile currently utilizes 14,015 Hectares of agricultural land"

[edit]

This should be 14,015,000 Hectares of agricultural land. The OECD data that the line is quoting was in thousands of hectares. 14,015 hectares is only 140km2

"Second lowest homicide rate in the Americas"

[edit]

is anyone able to get a source on this? if you click the link it leads to, wikipedia contradicts itself in this regard, because the linked article shows the USA has a lower murder rate Buzgie (talk) 02:12, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
